Like my new banner? :-D :-D

View across Victoria Harbour!

I had planned to get this specific shot of Central Hong Kong, from exactly where it was taken (across Victoria Harbor), half a year before the trip itself, to be used as my blog’s new banner!

Kakakakakaka… Now it’s become reality!

**********

Came back from Hong Kong few days ago!

Hong Kong Harbor View!

It was a Tourism Club project and a hometown friend, Eric, was the Director. I happened to be the tour leader of the trip.

I’ve been to Hong Kong with my family – but going with friends, this time, was a very different experience!

One whole year of hard work by the committee members of this trip, we made it happen – we went to Hong Kong!

Buzz Lightyear!

Buzz Lightyear (behind) wanted to come back to Malaysia with us but was stopped by airport security for bringing metal and laser weapons on board.

We went to quite a lot of places and I’ll try to briefly go through them one by one :-D :

Our flight took off on Monday evening:

Our flight...

Reached Hong Kong late at night, and checked into our hotel past midnight.

The next day, we went to Disneyland!

It is the smallest Disneyland in the world, but still – it is nothing short of spectacular!

Disneyland front gate!

We were very lucky it didn’t rain that day. The season was late spring, and before we came to Hong Kong, it has been raining heavily once every two days or so!

Some new attractions had been built since I last came, and the traditional Disney parade was replaced by a water-splashing parade!

Water-Splashing Parade in Disneyland HK!

On ‘Space Mountain‘, probably the most intense roller coaster ride in HK Disneyland, we were caught on photo screaming and looking stupid during the last, most intense segment of the ride, in which they purposely took photos of you screaming:-(

We decided to have a second ride later and have our revenge, and ruin the roller coaster’s reputation as a scary ride – with these photos:

Observe the right front passenger:

… and this:

Hehe…

One of Disneyland’s legendary attractions – “It’s a small world” – which was not completed the last time I came, was opened this time… but we missed it because we didn’t have time… =(

We went on almost all of the rides and visited most of the performances. Of course, the final “Disney in the Stars” fireworks display was as magical as ever! =)

Fireworks over Sleeping Beauty's Castle...

Personally, I love and appreciate Disney stuff very much, especially the older Disney cartoons – Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin etc.

I can’t help but reminisce on the sweet childhood memories – from pre-kindergarten to early primary school – the time at which the cartoons were really quite popular among kids of our age…

There are so many sweet, wonderful memories attached to them. Whenever I hear Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” or Lion King’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” etc… Whenever I see Snow White or Ariel or Timon and Pumbaa or Princess Aurora’s character…

I would wish I was back in those long gone, carefree days… :-(

Somehow, I find it that very few people share my passion for Disney, or have similar feelings as I do towards it…

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with going to Disneyland just to have fun and excitement; but for me, I would prefer to think that it is more than that… :-|

The next day, we visited the Hong Kong Space and Science Museum – they are two separate museums!

Space Museum Exhibition...

and took a lot of photos… and some weird ones:

Our friends' heads!

Also went to Peninsula Hotel, the oldest and probably most expensive hotels in Hong Kong, with its best rooms costing up to $68,000/night:

The Avenue of Stars – commemorating the works and contributions of famous Hong Kong artistes. Our hands beside Jacky Chan’s own handprint…

Took the ferry across Victoria Harbor and took some photos of the famous Golden Bauhinia Statue, which was a gift from the Chinese government to Hong Kong and a symbol of Hong Kong’s handover to China.

Took a ride on the traditional tramway which was more than 100 years old:

Watched the Symphony of Lights, which, err… somehow seemed to have fallen short of a lot of people’s expectations  :

Symphony of Lights from HK Island

A lot of walking on day 2 and also some confusion on the roads, really sorry!

But it was nevertheless a great experience! :-D

Went to Ocean Park on Thursday!

Dolphin Performance!

Took a long, scary cable car ride to the top of the mountain,

and had some great rides!

Forgot what was the name of this ride...

Ocean Park was just so big that we didn’t have time to visit all the attractions… :-D

There were so many marine displays, all in their own, separate buildingsJellyfish, Dolphins, Sharks, Sea lions, and an Underwater World with starfish, turtles, sea horses, huge and small fish, beautiful corals… etc. etc.

Jellyfish Display...

… and everyone was so tired after so many days of walk, walk and walk, that some of them could just sit down and accidentally zzzz…. :-D

Sleeping in Ocean Park...

At night, I split up with the group and went to visit my cousin and auntie while everyone else went shopping at Mong Kok

On Friday, we made a visit to Wong Tai Sin temple, and shopping around Tsim Sha Tsui before going up Victoria Peak in the afternoon.

The bus to the peak tram station!

The very, very steep journey up the peak in the peak tram was kinda scary :-D :

Scary..?

and on the Peak, we met Andy Lau!

Andy Lau met us!

… Forcefully stopped Leon Lai on his bicycle…

… Eric danced with Michael Jackson

James Bond got pointed in the head by Way Chow…

… and gave President George W. Bush our opinion!

… all in Madame Tussauds wax museum on Victoria Peak!

The Hong Kong nightview seen from Victoria Peak was totally breathtaking:

That night, we had dinner at at Yung Kee, a rather expensive restaurant near Lan Kwai Fong that some of us had already been looking forward to visiting, even before we started the trip!

It was very late when we had our dinner and we were the last customers of the restaurant for the day!

Yung Kee!

Since we were in Hong Hong, we couldn’t miss out trying the authentic HK dim sum! We had it for breakfast on the day of our departure, in a restaurant near our hotel!

After checking-out of the hotel, we made our way to the airport, and ended our long-planned Hong Kong trip – very tired, but happy!

Departures... Leaving HK...=(

I personally enjoyed this trip a lot, and experienced much more from it! The weather was perfect and I think it was really fun. I only hope that all the others would feel the same! :-D
